Digital Literacy
I've been doing some work on Digital Literacy this morning. This qualification is a National Progression Award (one of a suite of 17 that are available or we're working on) that should be appealing to a wide range of students. You can find out more here or contact Shirley (0845-213-5474) if you want to speak with someone.

Qualification Design Team for NC Review meets

The QDT has a wide ranging remit and will play an important role in shaping the new award(s). Members have been selected from a number of Scottish FE colleges (such as Telford College and Cumbernauld College) and include classroom practitioners with experience of delivering NC awards.
It was a good meeting with interesting debates about the role of core skills, vocational skills and assessment within NC programmes. I was particularly pleased that everyone agreed to try to be as innovative as possible when creating the new qualifications.

Awarding Body Forum
The first Awarding Body Forum of the year was held today, at the BCS headquarters in central London.
These meetings are organised by E-Skills and most awarding bodies attend. They provides opportunities for E-Skills to update the ABs on what's happening with National Occupational Standards and also give the ABs an opportunity to raise issues with E-Skills.
All of the ABs are in the throes of launching the new S/NVQs in Information Technology and this raised lots of issues.
