One of my roles is to represent SQA on various national committees, and I attended two meetings on Thursday of last week in this capacity.
In the morning, I attended the Scottish Government's Child Internet Safety meeting, held in Edinburgh. My main input to this group is to promote SQA's range of online safety awards, such as the National Unit in Internet Safety and the PDA in Online Child Protection. It was an interesting meeting and there was a lot of discussion about the forthcoming Safer Internet Day.
In the afternoon, I headed to Paisley to attend the University of the West of Scotland's Industrial Advisory Board for Computing. This is similar to my own Sector Panel but much, much bigger. Forty three people were in attendance!
Serving on external committees is a great way to stay abreast of developments, and although it takes up time it's well worth the effort. So please contact me if you want me, or one of my team, to serve on one of your committees. And, of course, we are always looking for your input to our committees, such as the Sector Panel or Qualification Support Team or one of the many working committees, so I would be delighted to hear from you if you are interested in joining one of the groups.
Please contact Caroline if you want to know more about SQA's online safety awards.
